Bloody Gray or the rebirth of futurism

A few months ago I was asking myself if there was still a concept of futurism in fashion; it seems that Becc from Bloody Gray found designers that have that capacity to dream and to project themselves beyond the present. You walk into the studio rooms of the Andaz Hotel and you are literally invaded by black aliens in silver jewelry: UFOs’ inhabitants are dressed in Erevos Aether (and so is Lady Gaga), bejewelled in Gina Melosi; their Heavy Metal shoes are from Bryan Oknyansky, their headpieces from House of Flora. Sometimes they go back to folk and decide to get inspiration from native African and Asian costumes or Russian toques and chapkas (Haizhen Wang).

With jewelry cast out of broken glass, shoes better stringed than an OMA building and sunglasses challenging Tetris, the woman who buys from Bloody Gray is ready to parade with irony and edginess in an hyperreal age – in a word, she is futuristic. There are also exciting ‘basics’ for her, as well as pieces which will please her drag queen alter-ego. Deconstructing black is her new game, and she has every tool to win it.
