The Burberry Body
Burberry are going all out on their new perfume, Burberry Body. You cannot have missed the adverts showing the stunning Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, naked under her Burberry trench coat – a fantasy. Shot by Mario Testino, directed by Christopher Bailey, the video needed a music that would scream Burberry – London, the rain, the spleen, timeless English chic. All of this is incarnated by British band The Feeling and their song Rosé, recorded unplugged at Abbey Road studios especially for the ad. The song complements the intimate atmosphere of the video, slightly sad and deeply beautiful, with just a voice, a piano, and a string quartet. A serenade to a sensual lover, it is no wonder that the song was given the Superior Award at MUSIKEXPRESS in Berlin yesterday.
Burberry has been involved with young musicians for a while now through Burberry Acoustic, recording bands playing an acoustic version of one of their songs outside, kind of like A Take-Away Show. More than just a soundtrack for the brand, Burberry Acoustic creates a musical identity that gives the Burberry style yet another dimension, complementing the visual, the sensual and the perfume.
Have a browse through the Burberry Acoustic website, and find a modern-day J. Alfred Prufrock playing piano on a beach (Chris Wall), a young Donovan (Jake Bugg), five musicians in a park (Dog is Dead), and a brother and a sister in harmony (Johnny Flynn).
