London always worth a visit in spring, especially when there is the last chance to visit the major exhibition of the well known artist Dale Chihuly, hosted at Halcyon Gallery.

Dale is an American sculptor, specialized in the use of colored blowing glass.  He was introduced to the study and use of this material while studying interior design at the University of Washington and learned the technique of blowing glass during his trial at Venini glass factory in Venice.

His magnificent works are displayed worldwide, both indoor as outdoor.  It is very common in fact to find his sculptures placed in natural settings, such as botanical gardens, as they are inspired from natural forms in their shapes and brilliant colors and they can modify and create new realities.

Walking through the exhibition there is the impression of moving into a delicate enchanted world, which can fascinate the visitor with its complex- but graceful- forms and bright colors.

It is clear that Chihuly can just transform a simple material like glass into an exceptional piece of fine art.

Other works exhibited in London can be found at the Victoria and Albert Museum and at Park Lane, where the so called “Torchlight Chandelier” has been displayed in honors of the next Olympic Games.

At Halcyon Gallery: New Bond Street, London (Until 21st April 2012)
