Hyeres, the International Festival of Fashion & Photography

The 25th annual International Fashion & Photography Festival in Hyeres

Today, Friday 30th April, marks the first day of the 25th annual International Fashion & Photography Festival in Hyeres, France. The festival, held at the Villa Noailles, a former residence of modernist art patrons designed by Robert Mallet-Stevens, features fashion shows by an impressive lineup of young designers, inspiring art and photography exhibitions and conferences for industry professionals.

The festival, which will continue until 3rd May, includes both a fashion and a photography competition. The jury for the Fashion award includes industry heavyweights such as designer Dries Van Noten, stylist Charlotte Stockdale and formerly the late, great Martin McLaren (who will be replaced). L’oreal, Camper and Swarovski are among the companies sponsoring fashion awards, while Liberty fabrics and LeBook are among those sponsoring the photography awards. The jury for the latter includes photographer Oliviero Toscani and Susanna Brown of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

For those not participating in the competitions, the festival is a great opportunity to catch a glimpse of some of the best young talent in fashion and photography before they blow up and to check out the impressive art on display at the exhibitions, which feature works by Olympia LeTan and Steven Klein and selected films from the 2009 A Shaded View of Fashion Film.
