The Wapping Project Bankside is presenting Paolo Roversi’s new solo show featuring work from his ‘Nude’ and ‘Studio’ series and a selection of the photographic pieces he did with his muse, Guinevere Van Seenus.
A Parisian studio, large format cameras, rustic grey background, innocent yet obscurely seductive nudes, alluring models with piercing eyes, austere sets: these are the elements that fit together like the pieces of an interlocking puzzle, where all the parts hold the rest together and mutually sustain each other creating an evocative and carefully thought-out photographic exhibit.
Enthusiastic with a drop of melancholy, Paolo Roversi’s photographs have the quality of being authentic. Some of the prints have a faded and blurry semblance that actually reveals the sharpness and transparency of the photographer. The images unfold true poetic composition and are simply worthy of unassuming contemplation.
The exhibition runs from 3rd February to 28th April 2012 at The Wapping Project Bankside – 65a Hopton street, London SE1 9LR. For more information visit www.thewappingprojectbankside.com
