Eddie Borgo
New York-based jewellery designer Eddie Borgo creates a revolution with his high end/ street jewels.
This might only be his third collection, but the young designer (who has collaborated with New York it-brands such as Altuzarra and Philip Lim) has already set his mind to create a unique accessories brand, and he is indeed taking the right steps: his fall/winter 2010 collection, which features Elle Magazine‘s creative director Kate Lanphear as a muse, has an inimitable sense of aesthetics.
In Borgo’s pieces, punk meets art déco in an edgy, sometimes aggressive, often creepy way (those shark teeth). Inspired by his love of rock & roll (especially The Rolling Stones, Siouxsie and the Banshees and post-punk bands), he has re-worked spikes and studs into austere architectural shapes. The polished and precious materials he uses give a luxurious overall aura to a collection that is surprisingly versatile, at times classical and chic, at times dark and strange.
