Harvey Nichols’ 2012 Fashion Show

Harvey Nichols’ 2012 annual fashion show displayed an exclusive selection of the latest trends for the impending summer season.
The show opened with a fresh take on the ladylike trend, as models swanned past in pearls, light fabrics and gold embellishments. Light and angelic, the “New Nudes” and “Great Gatsby” collections displayed a range of the designer’s different approaches to these two trends, including a beautiful Dolce and Gabbana lace shift, soft knits and sheer shirts by Acne. This elegance was further enhanced by the hairstyle and makeup: neatly braided buns and very minimal, fresh and natural looking makeup by Shu Uemura. The male models embodied the prim and proper approach to summer by wearing light sweaters and canvas deck shoes by Ralph Lauren.

With the Olympics drawing ever closer, much of the menswear was athletically orientated, such as Vivienne Westwood’s printed tee-shirts by D Squared. There was also a lot of denim mixed in with these looks, adding a more casual aspect to the sportswear.
The models then fluttered past in silk prints by Balenciaga followed by a tropical parade of canary yellows, cerulean and crimson silk dresses – adding a more light-hearted edge to the show and perfect for long summer walks along the beach.
The show closed with a fantastic assortment of evening gowns and a striking maxi dress by Amanda Wakeley that clients afterwards agreed, “stole the show”. Curtains closed and guests were then invited upstairs to view the pieces for themselves, sip champagne and indulge in some late-night shopping.
