Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week Berlin / Spring Summer 2013

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Berlin
Only few weeks left until the eleventh Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week Berlin which will take place from the 4th – the 7th of July. Once more, Escada Sport will be the opening show. A very interesting and well-chosen mix of designers will show their new Spring/Summer 2013 Collections – we’re awaiting a firework of impressions and emotions with numerous interesting shows. This year I’ll have the honor to report as editor for 160g Magazine from the runways of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Berlin. Some confirmed names are well-known labels such as Michael Michalsky, Schumacher, Laurel, Rena Lange, Marc Cain, Escada Sport, Hugo by Hugo Boss, Lena Hoschek; we’re also curiously awaiting the shows of international designers such as Belgian designer Marc Philippe Coudeyre, Canadian designer Steven Tai, Swedish label Ubi Sunt, Dimitri Italy and further shows of Turkish and Romanian designers. Needless to mention we’ll also have an eye on shows of German labels who have already made themselves a name- Marcel Ostertag, Irene Luft, Lever Couture, Michael Sontag, Unrath & Strano, Frida Weyer etc. Guido Maria Kretschmer is one of the shows we’re most excited for, his gorgeous collections are glamorous, timeless and utterly sophisticated. We adore his sensual collections, which impress us with perfect fits and highest quality. The themes of some of the coming shows are inspired by travelling and highly interesting culture- wise: Frida Weyer captures numerous impressions of several journeys to Turkey, Dawid Tomaszewski took his inspiration for his new collection from a Lisbon visit. A highly promising and well- chosen theme is Michael Michalskys’ “Personal sunshine”- the designer, whose shows are always one of the highlights of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week wants to show the audience the meaning of real, authentic people that are the fundament of happiness and a balanced lifestyle. A new but highly promising name is Hennes Kettritz who just launched his own menswear label in 2011 and designs in a very unique style which can be described as futuristic asthetic. As one of the highlights this year, Marc Jacobs will be patron and judge of the Designer for Tomorrow Award by Peek & Cloppenburg. He’ll award one of the five finalists which will get his or her own fashion show for the coming Berlin Fashion Week. Voilà, there’s no time, like showtime…So let the shows begin!
