‘Blade Runner’ (1982) is one of the most important sci-fi movies of all times. Ridley Scott directed a brilliant cast including Rutger Hauer, Harrison Ford, Edward James Olmos, Daryl Hannah and of course, Sean Young. Young’s role as Rachael, the perfect mix between 40s seductive leading lady and an innocent woman from the future struck deep in the heart of fashion. Many designers recreated the aesthetic from the movie, but in 1998 Givenchy gave us a true Rachael on the runway. No one like the late Alexander McQueen, back then designer of the French house, could have created such a Rachael, as he unveiled his Givenchy F/W 1998 collection.
