Versus: Yellow Balenciaga

Versus: Yellow Balenciaga

The highly anticipated debut of Raf Simons for Dior took place on monday. With a front row full of fashion friends -Alber Elbaz, Marc Jacobs, Donatella Versace-, the belgian designer gave a twist to Christian Dior Haute Couture, going through a nostalgic journey to 40′s New Look, getting mixed feelings from the experts. Aside from this, one of the dresses had a very characteristic color: the yellow Balenciaga. Just like shocking pink Schiaparelli and red Valentino, an imponent gown with an ‘A’ skirt channeled the famous yellow color, that Cristobal Balenciaga had in his pieces back in the 50′s and 60′s. The Cristobal Balenciaga Museoa (www.cristobalbalenciagamuseoa.com), have a yellow gown from 1962 that shows the original glamour recreated by Simons last monday.
