Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective

Yves Saint Laurent RetrospectiveIf you’re planning on visiting Paris during August (and if you still haven’t seen it), this is your last chance to visit Yves Saint Laurent’s retrospective at the Petit Palais.

The iconic French designer’s body of work is featured in the exhibition, from his beginnings as the industry’s wunderkind to his work as head designer for Dior, his innovative and art-influenced prêt-à-porter collections or his controversial Collection 40, which came as a shock and an elegance statement in the middle of the hippy era.

He said “Fashions fade, style is eternal”, and he lived and worked by it, going beyond trends and mixing genders, styles, colours and fabrics to create a new, flamboyant, creative concept of luxury in the best French tradition.

The exhibition at the Petit Palais displays original dresses, photos of both Monsieur Saint Laurent and his muses (Loulou de la Falaise and Catherine Deneuve among others) and several documents and sketches… There is no better way to discover French fashion and style this summer than to visit Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective.

Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective is on at Petit Palais until 29 August.
