Larry Clark’s Paris exhibition “they thought i were but i aren’t anymore…” has just opened at the galerie du jour agnes b. This retrospective features some of the notorious photographer and film maker’s earliest works from 1961 which includes a portrait of friend Johnny Bridges, as well as his latest works right up until today. There are also never before seen intimate paintings, collages and sculptures which offer the viewing eye a look into Larry’s world with the youth that surround and create it – in all their naivety, beauty and disillusionment.
Having been previously shown this summer at the Chelsea Gallery in NYC, this exhibition marks the first solo Paris show for Larry Clark, who was hand picked by Agnes B. herself to show in her intimate gallery space tucked away in the city’s iconic area of Le Marais.
“they thought i were but i aren’t anymore…” runs from September 13th – October 25th 2014.
